A Defined SKU Can Issue the Offer
When a configured SKU is purchased, Preferred Patron™ can automatically issue the corresponding offer without requiring the customer to spend points first.
USING MARSELLO TODAY?
Marsello is a capable omnichannel loyalty platform. Its current product includes points, rewards, referrals, a branded customer portal, Apple and Google Wallet support, RFM segmentation, surveys, loyalty automations, and—on higher tiers—VIP tiers, advanced reward conditions, custom earn options, product/collection sync and API access.
Marsello also offers SMS. The important distinction is packaging: Marsello currently sells Marketing and SMS as add-ons to the loyalty subscription. Preferred Patron™ includes loyalty, rewards, CRM and automated email/SMS capability in every edition, then adds advanced retention and offer controls that can make a switch especially compelling for growing and multi-site programs.

Independent alternative: Preferred Patron Loyalty, LLC. is not affiliated with or endorsed by Marsello. Marsello is a trademark of its respective owner.
THE DIRECT ANSWER
Yes—and the case becomes particularly strong once you compare the full operating stack rather than points alone. Both platforms cover core loyalty functions such as points, rewards, tiers, referrals, customer segmentation, surveys, automation, multi-location operation and POS/eCommerce-connected loyalty.
Preferred Patron™ becomes more compelling when you want messaging inside the loyalty platform instead of layered on as separate Marketing and SMS add-ons; live keyword text-to-join; SKU-triggered offer issuance; persistent offers that can survive repeated use through a defined period; explicit Customer Momentum states; weather and sports-event campaign conditions; private member messaging; and structured service-recovery workflows.
Make the switch pay off operationally: Preferred Patron™ can carry forward the loyalty experiences customers already use while consolidating messaging, expanding offer behavior and turning customer timing into a more actionable retention workflow. RFM, portal/wallet use, product rules, referrals, tiers, surveys, automations and API dependencies are incorporated into onboarding so the new program is designed to do more for the merchant from day one.
ONE OF THE CLEAREST FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENCES
Marsello's current help documentation states that its loyalty reward codes are unique to the customer and expire upon use, and that Marsello does not currently provide an in-app discount code that can be used more than once. Preferred Patron™ can support a different promotional model when the business wants an ongoing entitlement rather than a one-and-done coupon.
When a configured SKU is purchased, Preferred Patron™ can automatically issue the corresponding offer without requiring the customer to spend points first.
The offer can remain available throughout its configured period even after it has already been applied to one or more sales, instead of disappearing after the first use.
Persistent availability does not mean unlimited use. Rules can restrict application—for example, one use per day—while the offer remains active until the configured period ends.
Marsello does support product-specific earning/reward conditions and product or collection points promotions. The distinction here is the combination of SKU-triggered offer issuance + reusable persistent offer behavior.
WHY A MARSELLO MERCHANT MAY SWITCH
Marsello is not a bare-bones loyalty product. The strongest reasons to move are the places where Preferred Patron™ changes the economics or gives the operator materially different control.
Marsello currently prices Marketing and SMS as add-ons. Preferred Patron™ includes automated email/SMS capability with every edition, so loyalty and messaging do not have to be assembled as separate modules.
Marsello's current SMS FAQ says keyword-to-number signup is not presently available. Preferred Patron™ supports text-to-join today: customers can text JOIN to 54083.
Use persistent offers when a benefit should remain active for a set period and be reusable under defined limits, instead of treating every reward as a single-use code.
Move beyond an RFM label into a Customer Momentum workflow with personalized expected-return windows, explicit phases, phase-entry events, return resets and current-state campaign checks.
A MIGRATION TEAM, NOT JUST A NEW LOGIN
Marsello currently allows the entire customer database to be exported as CSV on all plans. Its segment-export documentation also identifies useful migration fields such as customer IDs, contact details, points balance, lifetime points, RFM segment, marketing status, spend, order count and last purchase date.
That is a good starting point. If item-level transaction history, product rules or deeper order history matter, also request or export those records from the connected POS/eCommerce platform. The goal is to preserve facts first and redesign only after the data is understood.
We confirm the migration scope after reviewing the files. Not every Marsello field needs to become a Preferred Patron field. Some data is most valuable as reference material for reconciliation, cadence setup and program redesign.
FROM EXPORT TO GO-LIVE
Preserve the customer asset, document the loyalty and marketing logic, then use the switch as an opportunity to simplify the stack and introduce the capabilities that matter most.
Confirm identifiers, contact data, permissions, points, lifetime points, RFM segment, spend, order counts, tier information and the history available from Marsello and the source commerce systems.
Document earning and reward rules, VIP tiers, referrals, surveys, portal/wallet usage, Marketing automations, SMS, product rules, sites and API dependencies.
Choose which Marsello experiences should continue and where to introduce text-to-join, persistent offers, SKU-triggered offers, Customer Momentum, service recovery, weather/game timing or other Preferred Patron™ workflows.
Load representative members, reconcile balances, test earning/redemption and messaging, train staff, communicate the member transition and validate the first live transactions.
DO NOT LET LOYALTY LOCK THE REST OF THE STACK
Marsello is designed around supported POS and eCommerce connections and includes product/collection sync and API access on Loyalty Accelerate. Moving the loyalty layer does not automatically require replacing checkout. Preferred Patron™ can use supported direct integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, scheduled data exchange or standalone workflows depending on the systems involved.

Use a supported direct integration when the existing POS or eCommerce platform can exchange the customer, transaction, earning and redemption data your program requires.
Use REST APIs, webhooks or scheduled imports/exports when a direct integration is not the right fit or the business needs a custom workflow.
Launch through a browser, cashier, tablet or kiosk workflow, then deepen the integration when the implementation timing and business case justify it.
CAPABILITY MAPPING

COMPARE THE WHOLE STACK, NOT A SINGLE SUBSCRIPTION
Use Marsello's per-site loyalty model and separately priced Marketing/SMS components as the competitor-cost baseline, then compare that full stack against the Preferred Patron™ edition that fits your business.
Published Marsello pricing context reviewed August 2026: Loyalty Launch starts at $60/month per site, Loyalty Accelerate starts at $120/month per site, Marketing starts at $15 per 1,000 customers and SMS starts at $0.028 per credit. Marsello defines a site as a physical sales location or online store connection; two stores plus one eCommerce connection would therefore represent three sites.

Reviewer background: About Preferred Patron™ Loyalty
MARSELLO SWITCH FAQ
Yes. Marsello currently offers SMS campaigns and SMS automation as a paid add-on to its loyalty plans. Preferred Patron™ also supports SMS, with automated email/SMS capability included as part of every Preferred Patron edition rather than positioned as a separate functional add-on. Current Marsello pricing context is summarized in the pricing callout above.
Yes. Both platforms support core loyalty functions such as points, rewards, tiers, referrals, segmentation, surveys, automation and multi-location loyalty. Preferred Patron™ becomes especially compelling when you want text-to-join, persistent reusable offers, SKU-triggered offer issuance, Customer Momentum, weather and sports-event conditions, private member messaging or structured service recovery.
Switch when you want Preferred Patron™ to turn customer pace into a more explicit operating workflow with expected-return windows, named phases, phase-entry events, pattern confidence, escalation logic, reactivation and current-phase checks that suppress later reminders after a qualifying return.
Often, yes. Marsello currently allows the full customer database to be exported as CSV, and its export documentation includes useful loyalty and purchase fields. Preferred Patron™ reviews the available files first, maps identifiers and balances, preserves usable permissions and confirms what can be imported, transformed, reconciled or used as reference data.
Usually not. When reliable identifiers and contact data are available, Preferred Patron™ can import usable member records so customers keep their relationship with your business instead of starting from zero. Authentication, incomplete records and marketing permissions are handled during onboarding.
Yes, in many environments. Preferred Patron™ can use supported direct integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, scheduled data exchange or standalone workflows, so you can improve loyalty without automatically replacing a POS or eCommerce platform that still works for the business.
Marsello currently documents its loyalty reward codes as unique to the customer and single-use: the code expires when used, and Marsello says it does not currently provide an in-app discount code that can be used more than once. Preferred Patron™ Persistent Offers can remain available through a configured time window even after repeated application, with optional controls such as one use per day.
Yes. A Preferred Patron™ Triggered Offer can be issued automatically when a defined SKU is purchased, and you can combine that event with Persistent Offer behavior when the benefit should stay active after use for a defined period.
Marsello supports SMS, but its current SMS common-questions documentation says a feature that would let customers text a set number with a keyword to receive a signup form is not currently available. Preferred Patron™ supports text-to-join today: customers can text JOIN to 54083.
Preferred Patron™ gives members the Patron Loyalty app plus a full no-download mobile member portal. During onboarding, we use your current portal and wallet adoption to build a member transition that keeps access simple and makes the new Preferred Patron™ experience easy to adopt.

Depending on edition and configuration, Preferred Patron™ can add text-to-join, Triggered Offers, Persistent Offers, digital stamp cards, packages, cashback, explicit Customer Momentum phases, WeatherSmart promotions, selected-team sports-event timing, Strategy Central playbooks, private regulated-industry messaging and dedicated service-recovery tracking.
